Nolan Weinmaster has been working hard to build a competitive Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) program since taking over as head coach for the Briercrest Women's volleyball team to start the 2006-07 season.

The ACAC honoured Weinmaster as coach of the year for the 2009-10 and 2013-14 seasons. He was honoured in 2009-10 for guiding Briercrest to its most successful season in eight years. That year he guided the team to a 13-7 record after the regular season and qualified for the ACAC championship tournament for the first time in his coaching career. He then guided a young squad to a fifth place finish at the 20012-13 ACAC Championships for their best finish since joining the ACAC.

He topped all of those records in the 2013-14 season when he guided Briercrest to their best record yet of 16-7, and a program best fourth place finish at the ACAC championships.

He is looking forward to continuing to build a championship team. Weinmaster is a graduate of Briercrest College and Seminary and played four years of eligibility with the Briercrest Men's volleyball team. He was team captain and the most valuable player for the final three seasons of his playing career at Briercrest, and was named to the ACAC All-Conference Team for the 2005-2006 season -- his final as a player.

He was hired as the head coach for the Briercrest Women's program that fall and has been working ever since to improve the team and his coaching abilities. During the 2012-13 season Nolan completed his level three volleyball coaching certification through the National Coaching Certification Program as he works toward a master's degree.

Before coming on board as head coach for the Briercrest Women's volleyball team, Weinmaster coached 18U girls' club volleyball and Clipper volleyball camps. He was also head coach for Team Saskatchewan's 16U girls' provincial team summer of 2009. He guided the team to a fourth-place finish; the team's best finish in seven years.

It is exciting to see what Nolan has done with the program at Briercrest since taking over, and we look forward to great seasons ahead!
