Three Briercrest basketball players are First and Second Team ACAC All-Conference

On the first day of the 2012-13 ACAC Men’s Basketball Championships the ACAC Awards Banquet took place at host Keyano College in Fort McMurray, Alberta and Briercrest men’s basketball was well represented with two First-Team and one Second-Team All-Conference Awards. ACAC All-Conference teams are selected by Conference Coaches.
Briercrest’s three fifth-year athletes, and co-captains, were selected to the First and Second Team All-Conference. Post Gradyn Childerhose (Outlook, SK) and guard Matt Myers (Olympia, WA) were both selected to the 2012-13 ACAC South men’s basketball First Team All-Conference and guard Kendell Boese (Three Hills, AB) was selected to the Second Team All-Conference.
Boese brought speed, energy and toughness to the Briercrest this season. He ranked eighth in the ACAC South with 283 points (14.15 ppg), third for steals with 55 (2.75 /game), and fifth in the ACAC South with 71 assists (3.55/game).
Childerhose has been a beast in the paint this season and been the backbone of the Briercrest team. He ranked first in the CCAA with 25.05 points per game and eighth for rebounds with 10.15 rebounds per game (second in the ACAC South), second in the ACAC with 0.561 Field Goal Percentage, and third for blocks with 17 (0.85/game). He was also ranked in the top 10 in free throw percentage and was second for double doubles with 11.
Myers has been a great all-around player this year for Briercrest, contributing in nearly every category this season, ranking 11th in the ACAC South with257 points (12.85 ppg), tenth in field goal percentage of 0.464, made the most three point field goals with 55 (and remarkably first in percentage with 0.447), fifth in the ACAC South with 134 rebounds (6.70/game), sixth in the ACAC South with 13 blocks (0.65/game), second in the ACAC South for assists with 107 (third in whole ACAC with 5.35/game), and sixth for double doubles with four.
Childerhose was also named as one of the two ACAC nominations for the CCAA All-Canadian team as well as the CCAA Player of the Year nomination. Coach Rod Adrian was awarded the ACAC South Coach of the Year.
Boese, Childerhose, Myers and the rest of the ACAC and CCAA top ranked Briercrest men’s basketball begins their drive for an ACAC Championship tomorrow, Friday March 1, at 6:00 pm local time against eighth ranked University of Alberta, Augustana.
