Jim and Michelle Mercer: Briercrest students who aren’t waiting for graduation

Jim and Michelle Mercer have been married for nearly ten years, and they have a four-year-old son. They are both ordained ministers with a Salvation Army church in Halifax, N.S., where they pastor a small congregation and oversee a family resource centre in their community while doing graduate work through distance learning at Briercrest College and Seminary.
They both love the fact that they can continue to learn while engaging in full-time church work. Not only is it convenient, but the courses they have taken have greatly enhanced their understanding of and capacity for ministry. They also appreciate the incredible support they receive from their instructors, who understand the demands of studying while ministering full-time, provide helpful feedback on assignments, and demonstrate genuine concern for them as learners.
