Dr. Dwayne Uglem
President of Briercrest College and Seminary
Dwayne and Janell Uglem's story began in Alberta and migrated to Saskatchewan in 1984 as single students at Briercrest. Dwayne grew up in the small town of Bawlf, AB, and Janell grew up on a farm outside Three Hills, AB. They were married just before Dwayne's last year of his Bachelor of Religious Education degree at Briercrest, and now, 25 years later, Caronport is still home to their family. The Lord has blessed them with four daughters: Amy married to Caleb and expecting their first grandchild, Victoria in Calgary attending SAIT, Carlie in Grade 4, and Lindsey in Grade 1.
Dwayne's 25 years on staff at Briercrest has included a variety of administrative roles: Registrar, Associate Dean, VP Research and Planning, VP Finance and Operations, and VP Education. After a year serving as interim president, Dwayne was appointed president in July 2005. Janell's work has included her huge investment in their daughters and teaching pre-school. The Moose Jaw Alliance Church has been their home church since the time of their marriage.
A graduate of Briercrest College and Seminary, Dwayne completed his Ed.D. at Nova Southeastern University. A love for numbers, research, and organizational culture has led Dwayne into teaching areas that focus on organizational learning and planning, research, and assessment strategies.
Dwayne thoroughly enjoys gardening, teaching the Bible, cooking, history, and mechanical work. Janell loves to quilt, scrapbook, cook, and invest in people.
