Men take both matches!
The Clipper men hosted the Ooks from Northern Alberta this weekend and Scott Lesher paved the way starting off the weekend with three straight kills for the men. Josh Wendel had a big kill at a key point in the match to give the Clippers a 19-18 lead and a point later following an Ook timeout Coach Nigel Mullan would make a key move to bring in Carter Reimer and Kyle Pankratz, the big lefty immediately got the set and crushed it around the block to give the Clips a big 3 point lead late in the match that would end with Cody Quiring winning a challenge at the net to take the set 25-22.
The Clips carried the momentum the rest of the night, with some great defense from Pablo Acuna, the Ooks were quickly demoralized when they couldn’t get a ball to hit the floor and the Clippers were absolutely teeing off on them. The Clippers would cruise through the next two sets 25-15, and 25-18 with Scott Willems providing some great serving that had the Ooks running into each other. Late in the third set Steven Klassen would come into the game and the Clips were working hard to get him a kill but the Nait defense decided to make an appearance and foiled three nice hits before the clips would set a quick one to the middle and Scott Willems would put the Ooks out of their misery.
Saturday saw the men continue the domination that they started on Friday having comfortable leads and taking three straight sets, 18/16/19. Steven Klassen would get a big kill that Nait had denied on Friday and the Clippers provided a veritable hit parade coming from everyone, capped by two monster blasts from Steven Guenther late in the third set.
