Men's Vball vs. GPRC
This weekend was a monstrous one for the fellas in white, blue, and gold. With the right to host the provincial championships on the line against arch rival Red Deer who was also vying for top spot Briercrest needed a big weekend. With starters Cody Quiring and Scott Lesher sidelined with ankle injuries Briercrest would be relying on some newcomers to step up and step up they did. It is hard to try to replicate the feel of the games with a play by play when the feel was just absolute dominance. The Clippers outscored the Wolves 150-100 en route to two three set sweeps. Kyle Pankratz would earn the game MVP on Friday with 17 kills in the match with one exploding off the defenders head up into the tippy top of the Hangar, and Steven Guenther would help to fill the hole left by Quiring. Steven Klassen would show off his serving, and not to be outdone by little brother, Trevor would ace the Wolves as well. Later the Klassen Konnection would hook up for a nice kill.
Saturday would see the party continue with Josh Wendel and Joel Dyck teeing off on party balls. Carter Reimer would join the fun with a nice turn and burn twice in the same game and Aubry Poulin would come in and drop an Ace into a gap. It was a great weekend for the guys they delivered big when they needed to and it paid off.
With this victory and the Red Deer loss this weekend Briercrest will play host to the Men’s Volleyball Provincials in February. Febuary 24-26 in the Hanger ladies and gentlemen so book your flights and grab your cowbell’s we are gonna blow the roof off that place.
Congrats to the Briercrest Men’s Volleyball team, someone should send a note to the dollar store in Moose Jaw because they are going to need to stock up on blue and yellow face paint.
