Briercrest expands partnership agreement with Minot State

Briercrest College and Seminary students now have even more education opportunities to choose from thanks to an expanded partnership agreement with Minot State University.

The agreement, signed on Feb. 13 in Minot, N.D., added three more career options to the existing concurrent degree program between Briercrest and Minot State.  Students who spend their first three years at Briercrest and the remaining two at Minot State can earn two degrees in five years – a bachelor of arts in psychology from Briercrest and one of three degrees from Minot State - a bachelor of science in communication disorders, a bachelor of science in addiction studies or a bachelor of social work.

"We`re to a place in time where collaboration is exactly what we need to be doing," Briercrest  President  Dwayne Uglem said.

“This partnership creates great synergy,” Briercrest’s vice president for academic affairs Wes Olmstead said at the agreement’s signing. “In the end, both schools’ students win. A faith-based private institution is partnering with a publicly funded institution. Our students have interest in these fields, and these professional degrees broaden their opportunities.”

“Briercrest College has high quality students who lend themselves to the helping professions,” said Neil Nordquist, dean of the College of Education and Health Sciences at Minot State. “They can now transition from education fields into addiction studies, communication disorders or social work.”

"We`re very pleased to have this continued relationship with our Canadian friends,” Minot State President David Fuller said. “We have a lot of students enrolled here from Canada and we enjoy the Canadian culture they bring to Minot State.”

The program is set to begin in the fall of 2012.
