Briercrest basketball hosts Lakeland and Augustana for 2012-13 home openers, while volleyball travels to Grande Prairie and hockey treks to Keyano.

This weekend marks the beginning of the ACAC regular season for basketball and volleyball, while hockey enters the third weekend of competition. It will be the first weekend where all five Briercrest College teams are in competition and the beginning of what is sure to be an exciting and busy ACAC season!

Basketball

Briercrest College basketball will finally have its home opener this weekend in the Margaret P. Reimer Memorial Gymnasium. After a pre-season that took the teams to Regina, Winnipeg, and Mayville, North Dakota they will finally face ACAC opponents in front of their Briercrest fan base. They will be hosting Lakeland College Oct. 26 and the University of Alberta, Augustana Oct. 27. Women play at 6:00 pm each night, followed by the men at 8:00 pm.

Volleyball

Briercrest volleyball begins their ACAC season on the road this weekend, competing against Grande Prairie Regional College. After a busy pre-season that took both teams all over Alberta, and into North Dakota it will be good to play league games. The women will lead off competition both days, Friday, Oct. 26 at 6:00 pm followed by the men at 8:00 pm, and Saturday, Oct. 27 at 1:00 pm followed by the men at 3:00 pm.

Hockey

Hockey will be travelling to Fort McMurray to face-off against Keyano College in the third weekend of ACAC competition. Both teams are currently winless in this young season. This is the first weekend series against one of the four key rivals that coach Dalton Stoltz had signaled as important before the season began. After facing two of the perennially top teams in the ACAC in SAIT and NAIT it will be a good test to see where Briercrest stacks up against the rest of the ACAC. Game times are 7:30 pm on Friday, Oct. 26 and 2:00 pm Saturday, Oct. 27.  Both games will be played at the Casman Centre in Fort McMurray.
