Briercrest was hosted by Grant MacEwan University for game two of the weekend. There was intensity shown by both teams and Grant MacEwan came away with the 8-2 victory.

Briercrest will be looking to gain their first win of the season and will finish up the first semester of the season next weekend as they host the SAIT Trojans. Next weekend they will look to improve on their opening weekend losses to SAIT and finish on a high note before the Christmas break.

The opening period saw Briercrest come out flat and with very little intensity. Grant Mac was all over Briercrest as they dominated the shot clock having over 20 shots in the period. Briercrest got their first shot 18:36 into the frame. They were able to direct three more shots towards the net to end the period with four. The Griffins were able to put two past Jesse Chenard to take a 2-0 lead into the locker room.

The middle stanza had Briercrest show more determination and heart as they were throwing the body. The Griffins added four goals and chased Chenard out of the net after their fifth goal. Christian Mueller came in between the pipes and was beaten once. The Griffins added 28 more shots on net whereas Briercrest directed eight shots towards Grant Mac’s net. There was a mini parade to the penalty box as five infractions were called. Briercrest took the first penalty of the frame as Austin Rock made his way to the box for tripping. Caleb Willems also made a trip to the sin bin as he was assessed a double minor for high sticking. MacEwan took two minor penalties in the period. At the end of the period the score was 6-1. Josh Mcguire netted his first career ACAC goal, the lone goal in the period for Briercrest.

The final 20 was a parade to the sin bin as both teams took a handful of minor penalties. The Griffins added two more goals to their total and Erik Robitaille was able to pot his first career ACAC goal as the second tally for Briercrest. The game got out of hand near the end as Briercrest had three players ushered off the ice starting with Manuel Schellenberg, then both Josh Mcguire and Jordaan Braun were shown the gate. Grant MacEwan also had players hit the showers early, as they got involved in the extracurricular activity. The final was 8-2 and Briercrest is still in search of their first win of the season.

The players of the game were Erik Robitaille for Briercrest and Shawn Prolux for Grant MacEwan.
