Volleyball

Briercrest volleyball kicks off the second semester of the 2012-13 season by hosting Lethbridge Jan 11-12.

The Briercrest men enter the second semester riding an eight game winning streak and a 9-1 conference record. Lethbridge will be entering the weekend in sixth place in the ACAC with a 6-4 record and will be out to prove that they belong in the top echelon of the ACAC. Each of Lethbridge's losses came against top ACAC teams, including a sweep at the hands of CCAA number one ranked Red Deer.

The women also enter the second semester riding high after defeating the then CCAA nationally number one ranked Grant MacEwan in an exciting five set win to end the fall semester. Briercrest enters the second semester with a 3-7 conference record, but have faced three of the top teams in the country with encouraging results and look to build on that momentum moving forward. Lethbridge has an identical 3-7 record with their only wins coming over ACAC last place Concordia and Keyano.

All games will be played at the Margaret P. Reimer Memorial Gymnasium in Caronport. The women will hit the floor at 6:00 pm on Friday and 1:00 pm on Saturday, while the men will follow at 8:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Games will also be broadcast online at http://www.sportscanada.tv/index.php/briercrest-clippers.

Hockey

Briercrest will be traveling to Edmonton Jan. 11-12 to face ACAC leading NAIT. Briercrest will be looking to get into the win column to start the second semester of the 2012-13 season. Briercrest has added several players to their roster this second semester, both returning and new to the program, and will look to use the added depth to their advantage. NAIT has yet to lose a game in regulation this season, so they will be a stiff challenge.

Game times are 7:00 pm on Friday, Jan. 11 and 2:00 pm Saturday, Jan. 12. Both games will be played at the NAIT Arena. Follow online at http://www.sportscanada.tv/index.php/ccaatv/acactv.

Basketball

Briercrest basketball enters the second semester with an ACAC bye week before hosting Olds Jan. 18-19.

After posting an ACAC leading 9-1 record and riding a four game win streak to open the 2012-13 season men's basketball will be using their bye week to travel to the US to play Dickson State Jan. 9 and Williston State Jan. 10. Game times are 7:30 pm and 7:00 pm respectively (games can be found online at http://www.dsubluehawks.com/ and http://www.wsctetons.com/. These exhibition games will help ensure that everyone is on the same page as they enter the stretch and to integrate Christian Sacoman into the line-up after he spent last year with Fort Lewis College in NCAA Division II.

The Briercrest women will be spending the bye week at the Margaret P. Reimer Memorial Gymnasium ensuring they are in sync after the Christmas break. The women sit in fourth place in the ACAC South with a record of 2-8 and are riding a two game win streak. They have added three players to their roster, Melissa Kelsey returning after a few years off and two red-shirts for next season, and will work to integrate them into the team. After starting the season against tough North Division opponents Briercrest will play all South Division opponents this semester.

Briercrest will open the second semester of the ACAC season by hosting Olds College Jan. 18-19.
