After an emotional split with SAIT a week prior, the CCAA sixth ranked Briercrest men’s volleyball team was unable to get into a groove against CCAA number three ranked, and top in the ACAC ranked Red Deer College, dropping both games in three straight.

On Friday, February 1, Briercrest had their best set to begin the game and then got progressively worse as the game progressed losing 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-16). Briercrest held the edge in digs 35-34, and aces 5-4, while Red Deer won the kill battle 41-30 and both teams had three aces a side. Kyle Pankratz had a team high seven kills, Pablo Acuna had a game high 12 digs and Josh Wendel had a game high three blocks

On Saturday, February 2, both teams came out strong and had what was probably one of the most intense first sets in the ACAC where Red Deer came out on top 34-32 before easily defeating Briercrest the next two sets and taking the game 3-0 (34-32, 25-16, 25-15).

Red Deer led the way in every statistical category, edging Briercrest 47-35 in kills, two to one for aces, 40-25 for digs and 7-5 for blocks. Kyle Pankratz was a bright spot in the game with a game high 14 kills in the loss. Carter Reimer had a game high 11 digs, and Scott Willms and Steve Guenther had game high two blocks.
