Briercrest begins search for new hockey coach

Briercrest Athletics has begun the search for a new hockey coach.

Dalton Stoltz, who coached the team last season, resigned his position last week.

“It is with deepest regrets that I have to resign as hockey coach for personal reasons,” Stoltz said.  “I believe the best days are ahead for Briercrest and Briercrest Athletics.”

Athletic Director Nigel Mullan is disappointed that Stoltz needs to move back to the United States, and has begun the process of putting a plan in place to make sure the program continues to grow.

“Our intention is to have an interim coach in place to actualize the potential that is in place for this year because Dalton did an amazing job recruiting and his efforts are appreciated.”

“The timing of Dalton’s resignation came as a shock but there never is a good time to lose a coach. We wish him and his family all the best and they will be missed by both his peers and players.”

More information will be released as it becomes available. Any questions regarding the hockey program moving forward should be directed to Nigel Mullan at nmullan@briercrest.ca
