The Briercrest Athletics exhibition schedule continues in full force this next week with both volleyball teams and men’s hockey team hitting the road for multiple games out of province, while men’s basketball opens up their 2013-14 season with a mid-week tilt against the U of S.

Women’s volleyball kicks off their pre-season with a three day tour of the North Dakota, beginning Thursday Sept. 19, men’s volleyball travels to Red Deer for the ACAC/PACWest Challenge starting Sept. 20, and men’s hockey travels to Minot State for a pair of games. Men’s basketball opens up their 2013-14 season with a game against the University of Saskatchewan Wednesday, Sept. 25. Volleyball

Briercrest women’s volleyball kick off their 2013-14 season with a three game exhibition tour of North Dakota. They begin the weekend Thursday, Sept. 19 against Williston State College at 6:00 pm (Saskatchewan time). This game will be broadcast on-line at http://www.wsctetons.com/showcase/. They will then face Jamestown College on Friday, Sept 20 at 6:00 pm and finish the weekend against Valley City State University Saturday, Sept 21 at 2:00 pm. Coach Nolan Weinmaster described this weekend as a good test to begin the season as the team is battling some injuries and the American schools start a month earlier with training. 

The Briercrest men look to continue their winning ways in exhibition play after going 3-0 in their exhibition opening weekend against Lakeland College, the King’s University College and NAIT last weekend. This weekend they travel to Red Deer for the ACAC/PACWest Challenge, where they will get to face PACWest teams that they may face at the CCAA men’s volleyball nationals that Briercrest will host in March. They will begin the weekend against Douglas College Friday, Sept. 20 at 1:00 pm at the LTCHS Court 2, followed by a 6:00 pm game against Vancouver Island University at the RDC KS Gym. The weekend continues Saturday, Sept 21 with a 11:00 am game against Capilano University at 11:00 am in the RDC Main Gym and then finishing the weekend off against College of the Rockies at 6:00 pm in the RDC KS Gym.

Hockey

After hosting Minot State on Sept 13-14 weekend, Briercrest hockey will be traveling to North Dakota to conclude the pre-season exhibition schedule with two games.

Game times are 7:30 pm both Friday, Sept . 20 and Saturday, Sept. 21. This will be one last chance for the young team to continue to gel and come together before the ACAC regular season begins against Portage next weekend!

Basketball

Briercrest men’s basketball opens their season with an exhibition games against the University of Saskatchewan for a mid-week tilt Wednesday, Sept. 25 at the Warman High School. Tip-off is at 7:30 pm. It will be exciting for the young team (ten new players to the program) to get their first taste of game action after a strong and competitive first month of training.
