The Briercrest Athletics schedule is now in full swing with every team hitting the road for games this weekend.

Men's hockey travels to Augustana for week two of the ACAC schedule, men's and women's basketball travle to Edmonton for the ACAC show-case tournament, men's volleyball travels to Medicine Hat for a pair of games and women's volleyball travels up the road to Saskatoonfor three games. Hockey

After a promising season opening weekend hosting of Portage College to kick-off the ACAC regular season schedule, Briercrest hockey travels to Augustana for the second weekend of the season. Augustana has historically fielded a strong hockey team and are also coming off a pair of losses to open their season, so the weekend should be a good challenge for the ever maturing Briercrest squad.

Game times are 7:30 pm Friday, Oct . 4 and 2:00 pm Saturday, Oct. 5. Both games are at the Encana Arena and can be viewed on SportsCanada.tv.

Basketball

Both Briercrest basketball teams are off to Edmonton for the ACAC Pre-season Showcase this weekend at the Saville Community Sports Centre.

This weekend will be the first glimpse at the 2013-14 Briercrest women's basketball team as they open the pre-season Thursday, Oct. 3 against NAIT at 8:00 pm on Court 3. The team then faces SAIT on Court 1 at 3:30 pm Friday, Oct. 4 and finish the tournament against Red Deer College Saturday, Oct. 5 at 12:00 pm on Court 3.

After a tough pre-season opening opponent in the University of Saskatchewan, the Briercrest men's basketball team will be facing ACAC opponents and will get a good taste of what the ACAC season might look like. They open the weekend with a 8:00 pm game against Concordia on Court 1 on Thursday, Oct. 3. They then continue the tournament with a 1:30 pm Friday, Oct. 4 show-down against NAIT on Court 4, and conclude the weekend Saturday, Oct. 5 at 12:00 pm on Court 1 against Lakeland.

Volleyball

Briercrest women’s volleyball continues their pre-season with some very strong competition at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon this weekend.  The U of S has broken their team into two squads for the weekend and Briercrest opens the weekend against U of S White team Friday, Oct. 4 at 6:30 pm. They continue the weekend with a 9:30 am game Saturday, Oct. 5 against U of S Green and then conclude the weekend that afternoon at 1:00 pm against the reigning ACAC and CCAA silver medal winning Lakeland College.

The Briercrest men's volleyball team looks to continue their six-game pre-season winning streak after going 3-0 against PACWest opponents two weekends ago. This weekend they travel to Medicine Hat College for two games. They begin the weekend Friday,  Oct. 4 at 8:00 pm and then have a re-match the following day Saturday, Oct. 5 at 1:00 pm.
