Briercrest teams split in exhibition play close to home

The Briercrest volleyball teams didn’t have to travel very far for exhibition play this weekend with the women splitting wins and losses against Lakeland and the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon and the men splitting 3-1 contests in Medicine Hat College.

Women’s volleyball travelled to the University of Saskatchewan to play three games against the U of S (CIS) split squads and Lakeland College. They began the weekend on Friday, Oct. 4 with a 3-2 (20-25, 25-23, 25-21, 19-25, 15-12) loss to U of S white. They then bounced back Saturday morning with a 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23) win over Lakeland College before concluding their weekend with a 3-1 (25-21, 25-19, 21-25, 25-16) loss to U of S green.

The men traveled to Medicine Hat for some exhibition play against Medicine Hat College. They lost on Friday night be a score of 3-1 (17-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-23), before bouncing back on Saturday afternoon with a score of 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-18, 25-23).

Men’s volleyball will be taking the Thanksgiving weekend off from competition while the women continue their exhibition schedule by traveling to Edmonton for the Grant MacEwan tournament Oct. 11-12. Check out updates on the Briercrest Volleyball  Facebook page.
