On and off the ice Robitailles hard work ethic gives Briercrest a much needed boost

Briercrest College’s Erik Robitaille, #26, is in his second year playing with the team. He is currently studying in the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration program. Erik, along with the rest of his family, is well known in the community as they call Caronport their home.

When trying to plan for the future, Erik felt that Briercrest was the perfect place to get an education.

“After high school I knew I wanted to study business or go to a Bible School, and Briercrest offers a unique opportunity to study business and help me become a stronger Christian.”

Erik sees that the team really has great chemistry this year giving it much strength both on and off the ice.

“I have never been a part of a team that has this kind of brotherhood,” Robitaille explained. “It is really special to not just go to the rink and play the sport I love, but to play it with over twenty pure beauties that I would gladly take multiple pucks to the head for, which is something that I will cherish forever.”

When discussing what Robitaille felt his goals for the year were he mentioned one of his teammates

“As a student I want to be the Brennan Gasmo of student athletes,” Robitaille said. “He is an incredibly smart guy with the smile of an angel and I respect him immensely, but I would never say that to his face. As an athlete I believe we will make playoffs this year.”

One of Erik’s biggest strengths is his willingness to take one for his team. Robitaille is constantly going in for a hit and trying to block shots. Another quality he brings to the team is his sense of humor.

“I know what you are thinking ‘look at this guy’s picture, he has probably never told a joke in his whole life!’” Robitaille said. “But, I need you to trust me when I say I am really funny!”

Erik has big plans for the future that will not only help locally but will have more of a global impact.

“Well, seeing as I went undrafted yet again in this year’s NHL entry draft I will probably fall back to plan B. Plan B probably looks like me starting my own business, through that business I would like to somehow incorporate missions to closed access countries. In what capacity that is remains a mystery.”

Briercrest College is excited to see how the Lord is going to work in Erik’s life not only this year but in his future endeavors as a business major.
