Hockey

The Briercrest hockey team returns home to the Barkman Arena this weekend, hosting the league leading SAIT Trojans Friday, Oct. 25 at 7:00 pm and again Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2:00 pm.

This looks to be a high scoring weekend as SAIT currently leads the ACAC with 31 goals while allowing the fourth most goals against. Briercrest currently sits four points out of a playoff spot, so this weekend could go a long way in gaining ground moving forward.

Volleyball

The Briercrest volleyball teams will be kicking off the 2013-14 ACAC season this weekend at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton.

The women kick off the season on Friday, Oct. 25 at 6:00 pm with the men following at 8:00 pm, and the teams then meet again on Saturday, Oct. 26 with the women playing at 1:00 pm and the men at 3:00 pm.

As this is Grant MacEwan's last run in the CCAA before moving to CIS for the 2014-15 season, they will be looking to make a statement this year. The women's team in particular had the third best record in the ACAC last season and return the core of their lineup.

Both Briercrest volleyball teams bring back a strong core of returning players this season, nine returning student-athletes on the women's team and12 returning on the men's team. It will be exciting to watch the teams mature to the next level this season.
