Briercrest men’s volleyball could not find the answer this weekend against a strong Grant MacEwan attack, led be Marcus Ernewein, who had game highs of 19 and 21 kills each game.

After winning the first set on Friday night Briercrest lost the next three sets to go down 3-1 (19-25, 25-23, 25-13, 25-17) Friday, Oct. 25.
Grant MacEwan led the way in two key offensive facets of the game on Friday, 40 to 31 in kills and eight to five in blocks, while each team had three service aces and Briercrest held the edge in digs 42 to 38.

Josh Senneker led the way offensively for Briercrest with a team high 10 kills, while Cody Quiring had a game high 10 digs and Josh Wendel had a team high two service aces.

Saturday afternoons game played out quite similar to the Friday evening affair, with Grant MacEwan taking the game 3-1 (25-22, 25-16, 26-28, 25-17).

Grant MacEwan once again held the statistical edge in almost every statistic, while each team had two service aces a side.

Briercrest was led by Steve Guenther who had a team high 14 kills, and Josh Wendel who had a team high three blocks.

The team returns home for their home opener and alumni weekend against Medicine Hat College next weekend, November 1-2, 2013.

Games will be streamed online at Sportscanada.tv, and the Briercrest Volleyball facebook page.
