Grunthal, Manitoba’s Rylee Wiebe will be moving to Saskatchewan to play for Nolan Wienmaster’s women’s volleyball team for the 2014-15 season.

Weinmaster is excited for the versatility that the 5’10” Wiebe will bring to the team this fall.

“Rylee has great athletic ability and is a very well-rounded player,” Weinmaster said. “She is great as an outside hitter and a middle, so she gives our team a lot of depth. I see a strong work ethic in her and also a desire to keep improving all the time. Rylee has the skills to be a great player at our level and I am really looking forward to working with her coachable personality. I am excited about how she will bring the character she has grown up with in a great family to our team this fall!”

Wiebe graduated from Green Valley School where she competed in several sports, including volleyball, soccer, softball basketball and track and field. She received several awards in high school, including honour roll recipient for obtaining an average of over 90% every year in high school, the Governor General’s Medal and Grade 12 Athlete of the Year.

Wiebe began playing volleyball for the Green Valley School Pirates in Grade 7, and then club volleyball since the Grade 10 season. She has played a variety of positions during her club volleyball career, beginning with middle and rightside in Grade 10 with WINMAN, playing leftside while serving as captain on the Junior Providence team in Grade 11 and then leftside and middle for Vision Elite in her Grade 12 year.

She has received several accolades during her volleyball career including Provincial game MVP award in both 2012 and 2013, and MHSAA (AA) Girls “Players Choice” and Volleyball Manitoba “Graduating All-Star” awards in 2013.

Wiebe is looking forward to attending Briercrest this fall for a variety of reasons, which of course includes playing volleyball for coach Weinmaster’s team. Other things she is looking forward to are the dorm life, having a roommate, making friends, growing in her faith and the overall Bible college experience.
