Softball plays in championships, hockey travels to Keyano and basketball to Edmonton this weekend
Another busy weekend is ahead for Briercrest Athletics with four of six teams heading to Alberta for games. Softball travels to Calgary and Strathmore for the WCSA playoffs, men's hockey travels to Fort McMurray for week two, and both basketball teams travel to Edmonton for pre-season play.

This weekend will be another set of first for the Briercrest softball team as they travel to Calgary and Strathmore for their first taste of Western Collegiate Softball Association post-season play. It will be a whirlwind round-robin tournament with Briercrest beginning the tournament Friday night (Oct. 3) against SAIT at 8:30 pm at Corbett Park in Calgary. They then shift to the Strathmore Softball Park and Rodeo Grounds where they will play three games back-to-back-to-back, The day begins with a 10:00 am game against WCSA regular season champion University of Regina, before facing the University of Saskatchewan at noon, and finally the University of Calgary at 2:30 pm. The remainder of the playoffs are determined by standings after the round robin play.
Briercrest hopes to continue their strong play as they've won three games in the past two weekends including a 2-2 split with the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon last weekend.

After an encouraging home opening weekend against NAIT to start the season Briercrest men's hockey now heads out on the road for their longest road trip of the year. They will be traveling to Fort McMurray to face Keyano College. Keyano swept Concordia last weekend, so sit in a tie for first place in the ACAC to start this young season.
Game times will be 7:35 pm Friday, Oct. 3 followed by a 1:35 pm Saturday matinee.

Both Briercrest basketball teams are now in full swing of pre-season play with both team heading to Edmonton for the ACAC Pre-season Showcase tournament at the Saville Community Sport Centre.
The women's basketball will be playing their first games of the 2014-15 pre-season beginning the weekend against Canadian Mennonite University Thursday, Oct. 2 at 6:00 pm on Court 3. They then play The King's University Friday, Oct. 3 at 3:45 pm on Court 2 and end their weekend against Olds College Saturday, Oct. 4 at 10:00 am on Court 2.
The men's basketball team continues their pre-season with their second weekend of games. They start their weekend Thursday, Oct. 2 against Concordia University College of Alberta at 6:00 pm on Court 5, before playing Keyano College at 5:30 pm Friday, Oct. 3 on Court 3. They end their weekend Saturday, Oct. 4 at 12:00 pm against NAIT on Court 4.
