After all Briercrest teams had bye weeks last weekend, all are back in action this weekend to complete the first semester of the season. The Briercrest basketball teams complete their first semester at home against Red Deer College this weekend while volleyball travels to Olds and hockey travels to NAIT.

Basketball

After a bye week the Briercrest basketball teams face Red Deer College to end the first half of the 2014-15 regular season schedule this weekend.

The men’s basketball team faces another strong challenge this weekend as they host ACAC South leading and CCAA number 14 ranked Red Deer College this weekend. Red Deer has a record of 8-2 and are ranked second in both points for and points against this season. The injury-riddles Briercrest men’s basketball team looks to gain some momentum as they end the first half of the season.

The Briercrest women’s basketball team will play host to a Red Deer squad who has an identical 0-10 record thus far this season. Both teams have similar points-for and against this season and will be looking for their first victories of the season. The Briercrest women’s basketball team looks to end the first have on a strong note to build momentum into the second semester of play.

Game times will be Friday, November 28 at 6:00 pm for the women and 8:00 pm for the men, followed by Saturday, November 29 at 1:00 pm for the women and 3:00 pm for the men.

Hockey

Briercrest men’s hockey team looks to begin the second half of the 2014-15 season and the end of the first semester on a high note this weekend as they travel to Edmonton to play NAIT. Briercrest currently has a record of 3-12-1 and are tied for 9^th in the ACAC. Briercrest hosted NAIT in the first weekend of the season and this will be a strong test to see how the team has grown as NAIT sits first in the ACAC with a record of 12-3-1.

Game times are 7:00 pm on Friday, November 28 and 2:00 pm Saturday, November 29.

Volleyball

The Briercrest volleyball teams travel to Olds to end the first half of the year against teams going in opposite directions.

The Briercrest women’s volleyball team faces an Olds team that is nipping at their heals in the standings, and sits is ranked 5^th in the most current CCAA national rankings. CCAA eighth ranked Briercrest is tied for first in the ACAC South with Red Deer with a record of 9-1, whereas Olds was swept by Red Deer this past weekend and has a record of 8-2. This will be an important weekend as both teams look to show that they are among the elite in the ACAC and CCAA.

The Briercrest men’s volleyball team is currently sitting in fifth place in the ACAC South, just outside of the fourth and final playoff spot. Olds is still looking for their first win of the season with a record of 0-10. This will be an important weekend for both teams as they look to gain ground in the playoff race.

It is a busy weekend at Olds, so make note of the unique game times. Game times will be Friday, November 28 at 1:00 pm for the women and 3:00 pm for the men, followed by Saturday November 29 at 1:00 pm for the women and 3:00 pm for the men.
