Volleyball

After enjoying a bye week, the Briercrest volleyball teams are back in action this weekend as they continue their charge towards the playoffs. This weekend will have playoff implications for three of the four teams.

The CCAA sixth-ranked Briercrest women's volleyball team (14-2) currently sits in second place in the ACAC South division two wins behind Red Deer College (16-2), but RDC has yet to have their second semester bye. CCAA 15-ranked Olds (10-8) sits four wins behind Briercrest in the standings and having played two games more than Briercrest and fourth place SAIT (9-7), they are feeling pressure to end a four game losing streak. This is sure to be an exciting weekend as both teams are trying to build momentum and maintain their place in the standing.

On the men's side Briercrest (8-8) currently sits outside of the playoff picture in fifth place. They are looking up at Lethbridge College (9-9), and having played two less games hold their own destiny in trying to make the playoffs. Olds (0-18) are looking for their first win of the season and have only won a set this year.

Game times are Friday, Jan. 30 at 6:00 (women) and 8:00 pm (men) and Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1:00 pm (women) and 3:00 pm (men). All games are at the Margaret P. Reimer Memorial Gymnasium.

Streaming of the games can be found at acac.tv.

Men's basketball (1-15) plays a SAIT team (8-8) who currently sit in fifth place in the ACAC South and are trying to get into the fourth and final playoff spot.

The women's basketball team (0-16) will be playing a SAIT team (12-4) who currently sit in third in the ACAC south and are trying to build on their momentum as the season ends.

The hockey team travels to Edmonton to take on third place Grant MacEwan University (17-2-3) this weekend as they try to gain ground on the sixth and final playoff spot in the ACAC.
