Lafond brings hardwork and experience to Briercrest hockey

Posted: February 6, 2015

Second-year forward Brett Lafond plays a tough style of hockey that has endeared him to his teammates and created the space to be among the top offensive threats on the team.

Brett came to Briercrest for the unique combination of Christian community and high-level collegiate hockey.

"What's special about Briercrest is the friendship and bonds all the guys share," Lafond said. "I've been on teams where teammates just hang out in groups, but that's not the case here. Everybody is close with everybody and it's always fun being part of that."

While studying Kinesiology at Briercrest, Brett has come to appreciate the community learning environment that exists here. "Being part of the Christian community really gave me different and new perspectives on how God has worked in other peoples' lives and how he continues to work in mine," says Lafond.

Brett joined the Briercrest hockey team after a successful junior career in the MJHL with the Waywayseecappo Wolverines, and has been among the top five scorers on the team during both of his seasons here. He counts among his strengths the dedication he brings to the game as well as being a good, light-hearted teammate. His goal is to go on to professional hockey.

Briercrest is proud to have Brett on the team and wishes him every success in the future.
