After a great game by the Briercrest women’s volleyball team the men’s team played and faced against the Ambrose Lions in a riveting three set match with winning scores of 25-23, 25-18 and 25-14. They played a good game that demonstrated what a strong team they can be as a whole and each set, as shown by the score, got better each time!

Briercrest opened up the game winning the first points of the game and were fond of tipping the ball over to win the point subtly. Joel Rosewarn had a strong start to the set with a kill in the far back of the court as well as Josh Wendel who had a big block early on. The teams remained close till Ambrose increased in the lead till Briercrest came back thanks to hits from Zac Ens and Jonah Johnson to make for a tie at 20-20 before another time-out was called. Briercrest won the first set 25-23 in a close, back-and-forth type of set.

Briercrest came into the second set with the same momentum that they left the first with-don’t forget that their first set ended successfully. They played well as a team with assists by Carter Reimer and quick digs by Johnson to name just a couple. The home team continued to play a strong offensive game and concluded the set by winning it on a block by Josh Wendel with a final score of 25-18.

The home team continued to play well together and never let their mentality in the game slip away. Jonathan Phillips of the Clippers played a strong set as the libero and helped the team fight well for their points. Jachin Karg contributed to the team’s success through powerful serves and kills. The set and match was won in the third with a final score of 25-14.

The Player of the Game for the Ambrose Lions was #11 Mark Ingram and for Briercrest was Josh Wendel who had a game high 5 blocks, to go with 6 kills, 1 assist, 2 aces and a team high 10 digs. Jachin Karg has 9 digs, Zac Ens had a game high 10 kills and 3 aces and Carter Reimer had a game high 30 assists as the teams setter.
