Ens, Reimer and Wendel selected 2014-15 ACAC South men’s volleyball All-Conference Team
Zac Ens, Josh Wendel and Carter reimer of the Briercrest College and Seminary men’s volleyball team were selected to the 2014-15 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference South division All-Conference Team.
The Briercrest student-athletes were announced for the honours at the annual ACAC men’s volleyball All-Conference banquet held at University of Alberta, Augustana campus College Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015.
Waldheim, SK native, fifth-year outside hitter Zac Ens returned to Briercrest this season after a hiatus. He had a huge impact on the team this season being named Player of the Game on multiple occasions, including twice in one weekend several times. He provided a physical presence for the team as well as providing mature leadership. Â Ens was tied for the ACAC south with 3.82 kills/set while ranking second with 302 kills in 79 sets. This also ranked him eighth in the CCAA for kills/set. He also ranked 13th in the ACAC south with 18 service aces, 16th for blocks with 25 and seventh with 160 digs.
Fifth-year middle Josh Wendel had another strong overall year for Briercrest, ranking fourth in the ACAC south division with 53 blocks (ranking 36th in the CCAA with 0.62 blocks/set. He also had a career high 191 kills and 215 digs to go with 8 service aces. He led the ACAC south in digs and was ranked 12th for kills, and eighth for assists with 27. This is the third year in a row that Wendel was named to the All-Conference Team as the Caronport, SK native was selected to the second-team in 2012-13 and a first-team in 2013-14.
Reimer, a fourth-year setter from Calgary, AB led the ACAC south with 750 assists this year while also ranking second on the team with 184 digs, fourth with 21 blocks and also chipping in with 23 kills and 7 service aces. His 184 digs ranked him fourth in the ACAC south. In his third year as Briercrest captain he did a great job leading the team this year.
