BRIERCREST ANNOUNCES NEW NURSING PRE-PROFESSIONAL YEAR

Lorna Butler, the Dean of the College of Nursing at University of Saskatchewan, announced that Briercrest College and Seminary is now authorized to offer a pre-professional year for year one in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) offered at the University of Saskatchewan.

A conversation between Briercrest College and the University of Saskatchewan has been ongoing for the past several years as they continue to navigate an effective partnership between the two schools. The new agreement is a transfer agreement that allows students several options to complete their nursing degrees by beginning with one year at Briercrest followed by three years at the University of Saskatchewan.

“This course of study allows students to enjoy the Briercrest experience while getting a head start on their nursing program,” said Don Taylor, Dean of the College at Briercrest. “Why not study in a Christian environment that will fuel a career of service and caring in nursing?” Ellery Pullman, Provost of Briercrest, adds that this initiative is particularly timely given Canada’s current healthcare needs: “With the ever increasing importance being placed on health and effective healthcare today, Briercrest is very excited to be partnering with the University of Saskatchewan in delivering the first year of a four year nursing degree on our campus beginning in September of this year.”

BSN students enrolling in the fall of 2015 will gain a solid biblical foundation and preparation at Briercrest along with those credits that transfer into the requirements of the University of Saskatchewan's degree program.
