Joachim Hanberg brings well-rounded ability to Briercrest

Posted: October 10, 2015

Joachim Hanberg is a skilled, versatile member of the Briercrest Clippers. The only Swedish import on the team, Hanberg is in his third year of the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration program at Briercrest.

Joachim brings the presence of an elder statesman to the team. Having spent time playing division 2 hockey in Sweden, he brings experience and pedigree to the team. He tries to be a positive influence.

"I always want to make sure everyone around me is well and encouraged and that is hopefully what I can bring to the team," he said.

Joachim has shown his versatility, this year in particular, as he's filled in on defence when necessary. A player that sees the ice well, he is able to create offence quickly with his crisp passing.

He has enjoyed the camaraderie there is on the team, as well as the atmosphere at Barkman Arena- especially for the home opener. When asked what makes the Briercrest hockey program unique, Joachim talks about the spiritual richness there is with the team.

"It has been special to play with a team that serves the Lord and to help each other in their journeys."

Briercrest is proud of Joachim and wishes him success in all his future endeavours.
