Josh Peters is an effective power forward for Briercrest hockey

Posted: October 24, 2015

Josh Peters has been a great addition to Briercrest hockey since arriving after Christmas last season. The native of La Crete, Alberta provides both a physical presence and a scorer's touch as one of the top point-per-game performers on the team.

Josh came to Briercrest on the advice of Darcy Haugan, an alumni of the hockey program here and one of the first superstars in Briercrest's ACAC history.

"He [Haugan] told me a lot about Briercrest and really talked about the great people at Briercrest and the great time he had…"

Peters talks about some of the great aspects of being part of this program.

"This team is really close this year, everybody is getting along great and being on an all Christian team is a pretty special thing. My favourite moment so far is definitely the win against SAIT, beating them 7-3."

A natural leader on the team, Josh is a calming presence in the locker room and knows what it takes to win from his time in a very successful junior program with the North Peace Navigators. His confidence is infectious and is present in every game and all situations.

His goals as a student-athlete here are to soak up as much as he can from biblical study, and to continue to develop his athletic ability.

"I would like to pursue my hockey dream a little further after Briercrest," says Peters. "Playing pro hockey has always been a dream of mine and my experience with Briercrest has opened up more doors to that dream."

Briercrest is proud of Josh and wishes him success in all his future endeavours.
