Briercrest bids a fond farewell to Brennan Gasmo

Posted: January 22, 2016

Brennan Gasmo has been a heart and soul player for Briercrest for the past five seasons. A fearless and tenacious competitor, he has become a fan favourite at the Barkman Arena for his hard work and for playing much bigger than his size.

Brennan is graduating from Briercrest with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. This is a great achievement, yet what he values most is the way he has matured during his time here.

"I've developed more of a love for God throughout my classes here at Briercrest, and most importantly was saved, and found Jesus at this school," he explained. "It's been a journey dealing with my junior hockey past but my brothers on this team, and family have helped support me in my life... this place holds a special place in my heart."

Gasmo is a natural leader on the team. New players have been able to look to him as an excellent example of the mindset needed to compete and win at this level, and he possesses remarkable focus and intensity as a competitor.

He is thankful for having had the opportunity to play at this level, and he's quick to give credit to his parents for "always sacrificing money and time to enroll me in hockey every year no matter how expensive."

Scoring his first goal and being part of the win against SAIT this season are a couple of his highlights as a player. He also scored the goal that would keep the rival Concordia Thunder from making the playoffs in 2013/2014.

It's been a pleasure to watch Brennan throughout his tenure with the Clippers, and Briercrest wishes him every success in his future endeavours.
