Jan. 25-31, 2016

Kathleen Bruce has become a dominating force at the middle blocker position for the Briercrest women’s volleyball team in her 2nd year. This was very evident again this weekend as she helped her team to a sweep of the Olds College Broncos. Bruce is averaging almost 3 points per game this season. She added to that total this weekend, scoring 29 points for her team in just 7 sets of action, for an outstanding average of over 4 points per game for a middle player! She contributed in a huge way at the net with 21 kills and 4 stuff blocks, and also continued to add to her great service ace average with 2 each day. Kathleen was honored as Player of the Game on Saturday, as she absolutely crushed it with 16 points in the 3-0 win! Bruce has become a real leader with her fearless play for Briercrest this season after being named the team’s Most Improved Player last year in her rookie campaign. She sits tied for 3rd overall in the South Division with 0.6 blocks per set and is 4th overall with 0.5 aces per set. She also has an impressive 1.9 kills per set average out of the middle this season. She has been a key reason for the team’s success so far this year and their 1st place standing in the ACAC South Division!
