In a game featuring the ACAC South Player of the Year in Briercrest's Samantha Zacharias and ACAC North Player of the Year in Keyano's Niki Friesen, the Briercrest women's volleyball defeated Keyano College 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-21) in the quater-final of the ACAC championship Thursday, Feb. 26.

The ACAC South division top ranked team Briercrest will now face North division second ranked Grande Prairie Regional College in the ACAC Championship semi-final. Grande Prairie defeated Red Deer College 3-2 (25-22, 26-24, 24-26, 14-25, 15-10) on Thursday.

Leader for Briercrest in the victory were ACAC Player of the Year Samantha Zacharias with game highs of 14 kills and four service aces, ACAC South Rookie of the Year Ashley Zacharias with a game high 32 assists, Kirsty Kindrachuk with a game high 10 digs and ACAC All-Conference player Kathleen Bruce with a game high five blocks. Briercrest led every statistical category in the game; 34-20 kills, 33-19 assists, 9-4 service aces, 42-41 digs and 7-5 blocks.

Game time Friday, Feb. 26 is at 7:00 pm MST. The winner of the semi-final will play the winner of King's and SAIT in the Championship final Saturday, Feb. 27 at 3:30 pm, while the losers will play in the bronze medal game at 1:00 pm.

Both team who qualify for the ACAC championship game qill qualify for the CCAA National Championships March 9-12, 2016 at Holland College in Charlottetown, PEI.
