Andrew Quiring hired as JV mens basketball head coach

Briercrest Athletics is excited to welcome a familiar face to lead the Briercrest Junior Varsity men’s basketball team in their inaugural season this coming year in Andrew Quiring.

Quiring will be returning to the familiarity of the Briercrest College campus this summer, which will be his third time moving to Caronport. This time he will be moving to Caronport to become the head coach of the junior varsity men’s basketball program and the assistant coach to the varsity program.

Briercrest varsity men’s basketball head coach Gradyn Childerhose is excited to work with Quiring this coming year.

“Andrew will be an outstanding addition to our program – his passion for the game of basketball is contagious and it shows in the way he develops players to be the very best that they can be.”

Quiring explained his journey to Briercrest, all three times.

“I was born in Winnipeg, MB and raised in Riverview NB,” he explained. “I had two stints at Briercrest. The first was 1997-99 where I started a BA in Sports Ministry. I came back in 2005-11 and graduated with a BA in Recreation Leadership. Five of those years were spent playing for the men's basketball team and two as an assistant coach. I met my wife Amber Quiring in 2006 while attending Briercrest, we were married in 2007. The last five years I have been living in Pueblo, CO where we started our family of three, Quentin who is four, Jovie who is two, and Uriah who is five months old.”

Quiring also talked about what makes him excited about coming to Briercrest as a coach.

“Coaching is a great opportunity to teach, mentor and develop student athletes,” Quiring said. “I think one of the greatest accomplishments a coach could experience is to see their athletes achieve their full potentials as servants of God, in academics, and in athletics. I am excited to be a part of that development.”

He went on to explain his excitement to work with Childerhose and what an ‘Andrew Quiring’ team will look like.

“I am looking forward to working with Gradyn as an assistant coach of the varsity men's basketball team,” he said. “As coach of the JV men's basketball team I am expecting to develop  a team of hard working individuals, shaped  by determination and positive attitudes willing to give 100%.”
