The Briercrest women’s volleyball team is pleased to announce the signings of Waldheim, SK’s Mia Harder and Edmonton, AB’s Justine Collin as the first signings of the 2017-18 recruitment class.

Mia Harder will be joining the Briercrest squad for the 2017-18 season as a force in the outside hitter position. Mia comes from Waldheim, Saskatchewan, where she has had excellent opportunities to develop as an outside hitter at Waldheim High School, in our Briercrest Club Volleyball program (where she has been coached very well by Briercrest alum Chris and Erin Loewen and Jeremy Harder), and several summers in the Saskatchewan Provincial Team Program. Harder has just come off a provincial gold medal with her Waldheim High School team for 3A Saskatchewan, and is looking to defend her Briercrest Club Volleyball team’s provincial gold medal in the upcoming club season.

Briercrest women’s varsity volleyball head coach Nolan Weinmaster added that “not only is she a top outside hitter in our province but she has great work ethic, an awesome attitude and she comes from a great family where they have helped instill in her the desire to grow in her relationship with God and in her character, along with her volleyball ability.”

Justine Collin comes to Briercrest with extensive experience at the outside hitter position. She brings winning experience from her time working with coach Keith Wills at Edmonton Christian High School, as well as experience with Team Alberta and the FOG, Ravens, Pandas and NAVC club volleyball teams. Collin led her team to the 2015-16 2A high school championship, and recently brought home the bronze medal for 2A Alberta this past high school season.

Nolan Weinmaster, head coach of the Briercrest women’s varsity volleyball team, emphasized his excitement to have Justine joining the program.

“Justine is going to bring a lot of skill and overall athletic ability to our program and I am so excited to work with her and help continue to develop her towards more of her incredible potential!”

Weinmaster sees the value not only in Justine’s athletic ability but her desire to grow in all areas of life, which makes her an excellent fit for the Briercrest program.

Weinmaster looks forward to welcoming Justine and Mia to a program that encourages not only development in volleyball, but development of character, faith and long-lasting relationships.
