Briercrest drops last home game of the season
The last home game of the season for the Briercrest men’s volleyball team started off promising, especially after their home game nail-biting 3-2 set win against the SAIT Trojans the night before, but it soon took a disappointing turn, which was a shock for the audience and Briercrest fans after seeing an incredible win the night before. In the end the Trojans won this game with a 3-0 win. Briercrest played hard, but it wasn’t enough this time around.
The 1st set defeat for Briercrest began as the Trojans took the initial lead with a leading score of 1-0, but Briercrest soon claimed the lead with a score of 2-1. Shortly, after the Trojans re-claimed commandership of the game and stayed in the lead for a while with a leading score of, 8-3. In this set, both teams continued to duke it out dropping serves and spikes like bombs on their opponent’s court as the audience’s energy exponentially increased compared to last game. In the end, Trojan power won with a final set score of 25-17.
The 2nd set fall for Briercrest started off with a scoreboard tie of 1-1, until the Trojans pulled ahead with a leading score of 2-1. Shortly after, both teams had a great rally, but Briercrest won and took leadership of the 2nd set with a leading score of 10-5. Although Briercrest proved to be dominant leaders of this set, and the Trojans remained disadvantaged, often by roughly 6 points at a time, SAIT, to Briercrest’s surprise, took the 2nd set win with the last few points winning with a final 2nd set score of 26-24.
The 3rd set started off fairly equalized in competition and in score, but eventually the Trojans claimed the lead with a leading score of 6-4. Shortly after, both teams equalized again and tied the scoreboard at 10-10, then 11-11. This set was a close game, and a suspenseful mist hung in the air making it hard to tell who would take the victory the entire game as both teams kept exchanging point-for-point, play-for-play and spike-for-spike, keeping the audience at the edge of their seats. Despite all the edge-of-the-seat suspense and end-of-the-game impressive rally’s both teams entertained, Trojan’s rose as 3rd set game champions with a final 3rd set score of, 25-23. Trojans won with a 3-0 match win.
