Women obtain weekend sweep
Briercrest and the Lethbridge Kodiaks played game two of the weekend, Briercrest obtained their weekend sweep, winning the match in three sets.
In the first set the Kodiaks came to challenge Briercrest, as Briercrest saw some fresh faces on the court. Nevertheless, the Kodiaks came out playing relentless against Briercrest, forcing Briercrest to call a timeout at a score 10-14. Briercrest was clearly looking to fill this deficit which they did going on a 9-2 run. The Kodiaks then called a timeout but could not pick up their pace; Briercrest won the set 25-19.
Into the second set, Briercrest came out with synergy pushing the set to 10-3 off the bat. This synergy did not stop, and Briercrest won the set 25-9.
In what would be the last set, the Kodiaks looked to revive the game but could not find any swing in their game and lost the last set 25-14. The final scores were 25-19 / 25-9 and 25-14.
Player of the game was #8 Taylor Mitchell with 6 kills and 1 block who, after the match expressed, “everyone played really well today, and we had a lot of new players on the court but that didn’t stop us from keeping our foot on the gas and going hard all the way until the match was done.”
