Women's Volleyball Head Coach
JOB SUMMARY
Briercrest Athletics is committed to developing student-athletes who pursue excellence in both their faith and sport. Through dedicated training and service, we strive to cultivate champions who embody Christian character and leadership.
As Head Coach, you will provide strategic leadership and implement a comprehensive athletic plan for your team. This full-time position is based out of the athletic department and plays a vital role in shaping both the athletic and personal development of student-athletes.

This is a full-time position.
QUALIFICATIONS
• A desire and commitment to be a follower of Jesus Christ as a way of life
• A Bachelor’s degree required but a Master’s degree is preferred
• Related work experience is required
• Has completed or is on the way to completing appropriate certification for post-secondary athletics
• Administrative and technical and financial skills needed to be successful at the role.
DESIRED OUTCOMES AND ACTIVITIES
• Athletic Department Representative
o Making decisions with the Institutional and department goals in mind
o Being an active team member of the athletic department
o Being an active member in the efforts to reach goals of team, department and institution
o Developing outside mentorship relationships both to be mentored and to mentor others
• Working with department approved University mentors both from Canada and the States
• Working to have an impact on surrounding community coaches
o Manage internal and external relationships and attend necessary meetings
• ACAC
• Briercrest athletic department meetings, Briercrest staff meetings, etc
o Participating in athletic department projects or other duties assigned by supervisor
o Conduct and actions exemplifies ultimately what we want to be true of our student athletes
o Execute department camp strategy
o Execute department marketing and social media strategy
o Manage and execute team’s budget expectations within the overall department expectations
o Be an active member executing the department’s plan for our alumni program
o Developing events or opportunities to foster alumni relationships
• Recruitment/Retainment
o Recruiting mission fit athletes who are following Jesus Christ
o Developing a program cycle in place, where the veterans are carrying a heavier load, and rookies are developing and learning without the pressure of performance
o Recruit student athletes to fill the team’s needs; players, managers, statisticians
o Be prepared to recruit to fill department needs, for example gamesday staff
o Working to develop Athletic Department approved outside partnerships to continue reaching team and department goals
o Will be recruiting beyond the current year and will be submitting recruiting lists on request
• Win/Loss
o Develop seasonal plan along with effective daily planning and implementation of training, teaching, and coaching to increase the athletes performance
o Develop strategic game plans that are tailored to upcoming opponent
o Tracking yearly stats that is update to date for season along with developing your team’s success factors to help determine if game plans and approach are working
o Develop technology usage within coaching approach to reach athlete’s attention and to take advantage of what is out there to help our team’s efforts
o Develop strategic practice plans engaging the mind and the body simultaneously in situations as close to game like situations as possible and will move away from block style teaching in team practices.
o Analyzing approach between games, and on a weekly basis and adjusting practice and game plans accordingly
o Develop individual practice opportunities for the athletes to be working on individual skills throughout the season
o Develop and manage game nutritional plan for elite athletic performance
o Develop and maintain the ability to make in game adjustments to effectively adjust to flow of the game or match
• Athlete Success
o Recruit athletes that are looking for academic programs that Briercrest offers
o Have a chaplain program in place with the team
o Own athlete’s development both spiritually and academically
o Meet with athletes regularly to discuss athletic performance and personal development
o Be a support for the athletes for their athletic performance and personal development
o Promote atmosphere where Spiritual and Academic success are valued at an elite level
Team Relationships
• This position will report to the Athletic Director.
• This position will work with the Athletic Department staff and other coaches
