Briercrest TESOL professor Darla Gamache has been appointed vice president of the Saskatchewan Council for the Education of Non-native Speakers (SCENES). The council is the provincial chapter of TESL Canada, the national federation for English as a Second Language teachers. SCENES represents the diversity of ESL programs and ESL teacher training activities in the province and is an important voice in policy advising. Darla, who has been on the SCENES board for less than a year, was nominated for the VP position at the organization’s recent conference. According to Briercrest TESOL professor David Catterick, “Darla’s appointment is yet further recognition that Briercrest TESOL has a key strategic role to play in the profession in this province.”
