Susan Wendel, Assistant Professor of New Testament
Susan Wendel (Seminary '04) has long wanted to see God equip young people to follow Jesus. Ten years ago, she thought that meant she’d pray. Then she joined her husband, Bruce, in studying at Briercrest Seminary and was hooked—on teaching the New Testament.

She recently finished her Ph.D. at McMaster University and has joined the Bible/Theology faculty at Briercrest College as an assistant professor of New Testament.

“We are very excited about returning to Briercrest and feel very much like we are [coming] home,” she says.

“I am intensely passionate about working with young Canadians who will attend Briercrest College,” she continues. “I feel like God is giving me the opportunity to be a part of the answer to my own prayers. I’ve prayed that God would equip young people to become disciples of Jesus who love his Word and follow him, and now I hope to take a more active role in this equipping process by teaching in the field of New Testament at Briercrest.”

Wendel specializes in early Judaism, New Testament, and early patristic literature. She will teach an advanced elective in the book of Luke along with Introductory Greek this fall.
