Youth Quake Launch in the Hildebrand Chapel October 21 officially started the countdown to YQ ’10 (February 19-21) as the Youth Quake team, led by Kevin Fawcett, the event’s spiritual director, unveiled this year’s theme: Make It Count.

Sid Koop of Truth Matters Ministries spoke, reminding the group that “if YQ is not about Christ, then YQ won’t count.” The two YQ interns and AJ Crocker, who leads the YQ team, played “Who Wants a Happy Meal,” a pseudo-game show, with audience members, and Refined/Undignified performed.

Fawcett and the team also revealed YQ ‘10’s guest list: Sid Koop, who will serve as YQ’s main speaker; Brian Pengelly of New Directions Ministries; Dustin Kelm, a unicyclist; and Matt Maher, who will lead worship. Kutless and Group 1 Crew will perform at Friday night’s concert, and Refined/Undignified will peform and lead workshops throughout YQ weekend.

“The launch was great,” said Fawcett. “Refined/Undignified brought the energy, AJ brought the craziness, and Sid brought the challenge. It was a great taste of our Party with a Purpose.”
