COVID-19 Update: September 16
Following the completion of testing for all students and staff, Briercrest Christian Academy, College, and Seminary has no new cases of COVID-19 to report.
The one positive case has recovered and will be returning to dorm and face to face classes on Thursday, September 17. Last week’s close contact case remains in isolation.
Proactive campus health guidelines continue to be successful
We continue to monitor students and staff for symptoms through a daily health tracking and notification system.
Measures in place for ongoing student care
Briercrest has put several proactive measures in place to ensure that COVID-19 symptoms or cases are identified and responded to immediately while maintaining a high standard of student care.
All students on campus have signed waivers indicating that they will adhere to Briercrest’s health guidelines, including daily health screening, the wearing of masks, and maintaining social distancing.
For students needing to self-isolate, Briercrest has designated a dorm space that allows them to isolate comfortably and continue with their classes online. These students have also been included in the social aspects of life on campus digitally and through safe visits through windows.
Testing policies and procedures for Briercrest staff and students
Students from provinces offering asymptomatic testing were asked to be tested prior to arriving on campus.
All Briercrest staff were tested prior to September 1, and all staff tests returned negative.
During our planned September 8 testing day with the SHA, 133 students who were unable to be tested in their home provinces were tested. Since then, we have received no notifications of any other positive tests.
Weekly campus updates to continue
Briercrest plans to release a COVID-19 update weekly for the Fall semester.
